The End Of The Week

The weekend: two short days in theory, that many people often lament fly by too quickly. I am one of them, often times. And then other times, like this weekend, the days just seemed so long. Maybe its because M got picked at the very last minute to work some overtime on Saturday, and wound up working a 15.5 hour day. He left before his early-rising children, even, were awake, and came home long after they had retired to bed for the night. They missed him. And spent much of Sunday asking where he was and when was he coming home. They also made sure to ask many, many times if he was in fact working late Sunday, as well. I assured them he wasn't. The whole time, I had no idea, really, and just kept my fingers crossed.

Its the nature of the job, I suppose.

But the kids and I managed to fill our time just fine. We met up with friends at the park and played for a couple hours. Enjoy a lunch of hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches together with them. Watched a movie, or two, curled up on the couch. Visited with their Pappy, and ran around the yard with his German Sheppard. We dropped off coloring sheets for a local Halloween coloring contest that S is convinced they've already won. Not sure how I'll break it to her if, and when, they don't. I let them stay up a few minutes late on Saturday, watching cartoons all snuggled together on the couch with a snack. We went to church. Ran some errands. And enjoyed the Fall sunshine. These days, the weather has been glorious. So we're trying to take advantage as often as we can. Before we know it, the holidays will be upon us and we'll be begging for warmer weather.

This week will be a fun one -- full of holiday festivities, preschool, and birthday party preparations. Looking forward to it all; it's sure to be a good one.

How was your weekend?
Did you make time to get outside in the sunshine?
What are you looking forward to most this coming week?

  1. We had some beautiful weather over the weekend too. And tomorrow is supposed to be up to 78 degrees! In PA!!! But next weekend the forecast highs are in the 40s. I don't think I'm quite ready for that kind of cold yet!

  3. It's been hard for us to spend much time outside because of the baby. I'm super cautious with her skin. Luckily, (sort of) the rainy season is upon us, so by the time we have a good amount of sun again, she should be old enough for sun block.
