Early Bird Gets The ... Pancakes?!

If we weren't early risers ...

- we would miss out on an hour's worth of Max and Ruby cartoons every morning.
- we wouldn't get to enjoy homemade blueberry pancakes without worrying about rushing off anywhere.

- we couldn't stand in the shower for 15 minutes, singing to the radio, or daydreaming.
- we couldn't try on half our wardrobe before settling for our outfit for the day.

- we wouldn't get to see our furry bunny friends that make their way through our yard each morning.
- we wouldn't know what the sunrise looks like at 545am, glowing pink and orange.

Sometimes, I have to remind myself of these things. When its 6am -- on one of the few days when I *can* sleep in, and the kids start running into the bedroom, beating me awake and proclaiming "I'm hungry. Get me food!" But then I get to snuggle up on the couch, turn on the cartoons, and whip up some pancakes with my kiddos, long before the rest of the world is awake. If we weren't a family of early risers, I wouldn't get to enjoy all these moments with the ones I love!

  1. Sometimes I wish I were a born early riser. But I really like my sleep. Every once in a while, I crawl out of bed early to enjoy some "me" time before all of the kiddos are up. My big two don't normally wake up until after 7:00. Except for weekends. For some weird reason they wake up early on weekends. Ugh!

  3. I love these kinds of little memories with kids. With the pace of everyday life, it's easy to forget the little things!
