No Photos, All Memories

As bloggers, we all write about our days, our lives, and those in it. And each time we write, we strive to include the best pictures that capture those moments, those smiles, those memories. Lately, I've made taking more pictures one of my "daily" goals by doing a Project:365 myself. But yesterday? Yesterday, I didn't pick up the camera until it was almost bedtime for the kids.

Instead, I spent my day living it.

M had the day off, and as soon as S caught wind of that information, she deemed the day "Daddy/Daughter" time -- and wouldn't allow him to refuse! Which ultimately meant that I was allowed some alone time with my youngest. Lately, alone time with either of the kids is sort of hard to come by, but I feel like I get even less with L, because he sleeps better, naps better, stays in bed later than his older sister. So that time to just sit and spend with him was much appreciated.

I already had plans to go to the gym in the morning, especially since it had been a week since we were last there {thank you, bronchitis!} and L was really excited about getting to play in the kids room. Before I had even dug out the workout clothes, he was hounding me was "Go gym?! Now ... go gym?!" He seemed a little sad when he figured out that his sister wasn't going to be tagging along, but as soon as we got down the road, he seemed to care less. He was getting all the attention.

L played for an hour while I got in some cardio and a quick gym-shower. I had already promised him that we would stop somewhere for a snack on our way home, but as we were leaving the gym, M called and said he and S were heading to grab some lunch out for a special treat, so I changed the snack idea, and asked L what he wanted for lunch. His request? Cheese and crackers! Well, okay then! Instantly, I had somewhere in mind.

Lately, L has been enjoying Lunchables, but doesn't eat the meat. But I remembered a fun "snack" they sell as our Sheetz. Shaped like Mickey Mouse's head, they have a "snack" type lunch of apples, grapes and cubes of cheese. All L's favorites! Paired with a bag of white cheddar popcorn and something to drink, my easy-to-please little guy was all smiles!

We spent the rest of the morning back at home, baking some banana bread together, and playing Batman. It was low-key, relaxed, and totally up his alley. And this Mom enjoyed every moment of our time, one on one.

And let me just say -- I do not apologize for not breaking out my camera! Sometimes, even us bloggers, need a moment to just live in it, soak it all in, and enjoy. Sorry there's nothing more than words to look at today -- but really, I'm not that sorry. Those moments are forever etched in my memory! And now, I look forward to some of the same time alone with my girl, hopefully sooner rather than later!

  2. Didn't miss the photos. I totally get the need to just be in the moment with the kids. I've been feeling so similar lately!

  3. I love this. I always feel like I HAVE to add a photo or two to a blog post...even if it's totally irrelevant to what I write. What a great reminder!
