Play Dates, Pancake Breakfast, and Plenty of Time in the Sun: Our Weekend in Review

Mommy bought some shorts. And a couple shirts, too.
We drove around looking at homes for sale.
We had a "good-bye" play-date with friends of ours that are moving soon.

Mommy woke up bright and early to help at a pancake breakfast.
The kids got to visit with their great-grandfather.
We cooked out with friends and ran around outside until way past our bedtime.

There was a guest speaker at church whose sermon was great.
We spent the afternoon doing yardwork and playing on the swing set.
By bedtime, we were all exhausted, but sad to see the weekend go.

Most of the time, this is how our weekend goes -- a few errands and odds and ends. A planned activity or two, and lots of time with friends and family. And now that the sun is shining, the temps are rising and summer is well on it's way, those get-together's are happening more and more. And I couldn't love it more. I'm already looking forward to the weekend cook outs at our house with friends, or at other friends' homes. The pig pickings with family for birthdays and the 4th of July.

As we get older, and our kids get older, too, we realize quickly that weekends aren't about seeing who can find the bottom of the alcohol bottle the fastest, who can crank their stereo the loudest or drive their car the fastest. Its about the moments we spend together: friends, family, loved ones alike. Those are the things we will remember when its all done!
