A Secret Spot

Recently, we started to notice little things here and there that were going missing.

One afternoon, it was the tv remote. We searched high and low, and couldn't find it anywhere. Obviously, being the object that it is/was, we knew it had to be in the house. But where?!

Luckily we had a back up.

Another night, we had rented a movie. L brought it into the house, and as I was helping his sister with her shoes in the kitchen, I told him to take it to Daddy. He walked in the same direction, so I just assumed he had done as I had asked.

Wrong.

Later that night, after the kids had gone to sleep and we were ready to sit down and watch it, we couldn't find the movie anywhere.

We hunted in every room. Including the kids rooms, having to hug and comfort both kids a second time, after barging in to find this rental movie.

It was probably the third sweep around the entire house when I walked into our bedroom and started looking. My husband had given up at that point.

I looked by the bed. The couch in our room. Into my bathroom, since L loves to play in my drawers.

Nothing.

I don't know why it never dawned on me, but I finally went into my husband's bathroom -- and low and behold! There everything was.

Stashed -- a tv remote, toys, books ... and the dvd we had rented. All in the bathroom closet, next to the bottles of lotion. One of L's favorite things to do -- haul out the lotion and just tote it around. Hoping someone will open a bottle and squirt some in his hand so he can rub it all over his belly.

So now ... when things go missing, that bathroom closet, and the lotion shelf, is the first place I am going to look.

{It will be my luck ... now that I say this, he'll move on to something else, and find an even more devious hiding place, and we'll be back to square one!}
