L Says NO NAP! Mama Disagrees!

I don't know how he does it.

Lately, L seems to be flip-flopping between really great 3-hour long naps, and almost no naps at all. And on those no-nap days, it seems that he clearly has more energy than I do.

Over the weekend, we got home late one afternoon. L had napped for about a half hour in the car, and was awake from said nap by 1245pm.

I kept him awake for awhile after we ate lunch, letting him run around and play. I thought it would be enough for him to realize that the nap he did take wasn't sufficient enough, and then he'd fall asleep in his room.

Didn't happen.

I put him in his room, and waited for him to stop playing.

And waited. And waited some more.

Two hours later, he still hadn't given in to sleep, so I got him up. We went outside, played all afternoon, had dinner, washed up, and played in the house the rest of the evening.

He went to sleep pretty easily at bedtime, and surprisingly wasn't cranky in the evening.

I was, though. I was exhausted ... and wanted nothing more than to bottle up the new energy he had stumbled upon and drink it down!

Now, it hasn't happened every day since. Thankfully. 16 months, in my opinion, is too young to start giving up naps.

But I am figuring out one thing: the later we are out in the morning running errands, the more likely it is that L will sleep in the car, and therefore fight his afternoon nap.

Looks like we will be switching our schedules up most days, and heading out earlier!

  2. He is adorable. And I hope he keeps taking naps. 16 months is too young to stop taking them. Hope you have a wonderful day.

  3. Oh no! I hope he doesn't try to drop his nap! It's too soon! I need nap time more than my daughter at this point.
