Happy {late} Monday! Hope everyone had a great Easter, and a nice weekend. It was cold and rainy around here -- quite unseasonable for North Carolina, I must say. Although the kids could care less, and were still running around outside playing, I, for one, was not a fan. I managed to keep bundled up in a sweatshirt most of the time, or huddled under a blanket when we were home, though. At least Friday was sort of nice. We let the kids do their Easter egg hunt in the back yard Friday morning, since we knew the rain was coming and wanted to avoid it all together. They loved finding the eggs, filling their baskets, and seeing what was inside. L was so funny -- he had to crack each egg open to see the treat before he could move on to finding the next. Safe to say, S wound up cleaning up and filling her basket long before he brother!
Friday afternoon, M and I took a date day/night. It was nice to just spend some time together, without the kids, and talk, laugh and enjoy each other's company.
Saturday was a pretty low-key day. It rained most of the day, so we hung around the house and relaxed. The kids played with toys and treats and fun things, and made a mess around the house, per usual. By afternoon, we were all ready to get out of the house, so we loaded into the car and headed out to Cracker Barrel for a good dinner out. Ran a few errands and got back to the house well after their usual bedtime. I let them stay up a little longer to watch a cartoon and try to unwind ... and of course. It threw them off and they both slept horribly. Maybe someday they will cherish a good night's rest! For now, we just deal.
Easter was nice, and laid back. The kids were both awake earlier than normal so we gave them their baskets and let them enjoy their gifts. M and I got read to go to church while the kids stayed behind with my parents. They were able to enjoy some time with them, play outside a bit, and continue on the pattern of making a mess of the house with new goodies! Ha! We all kind of napped off and on that afternoon before preparing a good meal, running around outside {in the cold wind} that afternoon, and getting ready for bed at a normal time. Of course, it took the kids forever to fall asleep -- most likely due to all the sugar they had consumed -- and neither slept the greatest. Again.
Hopefully now that the weather is returning to the seasonal norm around here, the wind is dying down and the temperatures are rising, we'll get them outside more to run off that energy so they can sleep! Mommy sure would love a night of solid rest!
Can't go wrong with a laid back Easter. :) Hope the weather warms up for you.
